These binaries were all built from the mozilla cvs repository
(http://www.mozilla.org/cvs.html), off the MOZILLA_1_7_RC2
tag, with the following commands used to obtain source:
On OSX/Unix/Windows:
cvs co -r MOZILLA_1_7_RC2 mozilla/client.mk
cd mozilla
make -f client.mk checkout
Read http://mozilla.org/build/distribution.html for instructions
on how to build a copy of Mozilla suitable for distribution.
All binary packages contain the Talkback third-party crash reporting utility.
(including mac!)
mozilla-win32-1.7rc2-installer.exe contains core.xpi (compressed core browser
files), mail.xpi (compressed mail/news files), the talkback quality feedback
agent, and the installer required to install them.
This is your basic win32 client release.
mozilla-win32-1.7rc2.zip contains all of dist/bin from an
optimized build. This package includes many debug and test files, and does
not include an installer.
If you do not understand this, you should use
mozilla-win32-1.7rc2-installer.exe.
The following builds are for Linux on x86 platforms:

mozilla-i686-pc-linux-gnu-1.7rc2-stub-installer.tar.gz

The following builds are for Mac OS X:

Packages in other formats and for other platforms will appear as
they are produced by volunteers.
